Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Agricultural Economist and Analyst to deliver data-driven insights for South African agricultural businesses, with emphasis on North West operations. This fully remote role requires rigorous econometric work and clear client communication.

You will build models, forecast market trends, assess costs and profitability, and present actionable recommendations to diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in agricultural economics, market analysis, or financial consulting.
• Demonstrated expertise in econometric modeling, statistical analysis, and financial forecasting.
• Proficiency in R, Stata, SPSS or similar statistical software.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills; clear communication of complex ideas.
• Strong knowledge of South African agricultural landscape and economic drivers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive economic analysis of agricultural markets, trends, and policies.
• Develop financial models and forecasts for agricultural businesses, evaluating profitability and investment opportunities.
• Analyze production costs, market prices, and supply chain dynamics.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients.
• Monitor and interpret macroeconomic factors influencing the agricultural sector.
• Advise clients on risk management, diversification, and market access.
• Stay updated on research, technologies, and best practices in agricultural economics.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify objectives and challenges.
