Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Agile Project Manager to drive multiple agile teams across software initiatives. This fully remote role operates from anywhere in South Africa, shaping product strategy and ensuring timely delivery in a global digital market.

You will mentor teams, manage backlogs, collaborate with Product Owners, and promote agile practices, with a strong emphasis on leadership and stakeholder communication in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of project management experience with at least 5 years leading agile software development teams.
• Experience managing complex, multi-team agile projects in a remote-first setting.
• In-depth knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate remote teams.
• Strong understanding of the SDLC and DevOps principles.
• CSM, PSM, or similar agile certification is required.
• Experience in product management or working with product managers is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate remote decision-making.
• Self-motivated and autonomous in a remote work setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor multiple agile development teams, facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Drive adoption and continuous improvement of agile practices across the organization.
• Manage the product backlog, prioritize features, and align with business objectives and customer needs.
• Oversee end-to-end lifecycle for software development projects, from conception to deployment.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and engineering teams to define scope, requirements, and deliverables.
• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and impediments with proactive solutions.
• Foster transparency, collaboration, and learning within remote teams.
• Ensure high-quality standards and on-time, on-scope delivery.
• Track progress, generate reports, and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Champion agile transformation and best practices across the company.
