Overview

Summary: We are looking for a Relationship Banker to generate revenue for the company by sourcing new clients and proactively managing the account to maximize profitability.

Position information

The Relationship Manager is responsible for generating revenue by sourcing new clients and proactively managing the account to maximize profitability, to grow and retain a portfolio of high-value banking relationships by performing proactive value-adding partnerships, by providing banking solutions and services to maintain and grow the existing customer base, and to develop and maintain a portfolio of important revenue-generating client relationships within the defined affluent market segment.

Responsibilities
  • Finance – Proactively cold call and find new clients to meet monthly revenue targets; educate and promote the company’s full product offering; manage profit margins by providing clients with comparative information on rates and obtaining the best rates for specific banking products; track, control and influence sales activities to increase sales efficiencies; grow the client base with agreed monthly new acquisitions to achieve the sales target.
  • Portfolio Management – Monitor, track and report on sales activity; identify opportunities for cross-selling and referrals; develop an understanding of client needs; identify new revenue opportunities and capture client feedback on products.
  • Risk Management – Comply with governance, understand clients’ risk profiles, and optimize product mix.
  • Client Service – Anticipate and interpret clients’ business requirements; provide timely solutions through client research; deliver excellent service to generate referrals and new business; serve as primary point of contact to ensure retention and long-term relationships; conduct ongoing face-to-face and telephonic interactions; offer appropriate products at the right times; manage reviews of client facilities and facilitate approvals where needed; train clients on systems/processes; stay informed on market trends to provide relevant advice; support onboarding with compliance, credit applications, and facility obtainment.
  • Admin Support – Provide relevant reports to track progress; review client files and keep information updated; manage client interactions in the CRM system.
  • Internal Processes – Coordinate with legal, credit, internal bankers, back-office, and Treasury to meet client needs; ensure necessary documents are in place and delivered; assist with SARB applications; follow up to resolve queries.
Training and Compliance
  • Manage personal development and complete mandatory trainings (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering, FICA, PoPI compliance); keep abreast of compliance requirements and product knowledge; meet training deadlines as outlined in PDP; understand sales cycles and banking products.
Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Skills
  • Sound understanding of banking sales; customer relationship management; sales principles; strong written and spoken English and Swahili; credit analysis, documentation, and relationship management; ability to assess customer needs and sell appropriate products; in-depth knowledge of banking products; proven sales experience in client relationship roles; ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
