Life Bay View Private Hospital – Registered Nurse | Theatre Qualified | CSSD Supervisor Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Theatre Qualified CSSD Supervisor based at Life Bay View Private Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the surgical team to perform surgical procedures and to ensure that the patient receives optimal care in accordance with the company and hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

Ensuring effective financial management by

  • Use of Formulary CSSD stock and effectively manage usage.
  • Managing stock by participating in regular stock taking
Affecting the functioning of theatre equipment and instrumentation
  • Ensuring the correct use of CSSD equipment and instrumentation by educating and supervising staff on the correct utilization of the equipment
Ensuring effective people management
  • Providing CSSD specific training and assessing the competence of staff
  • Assisting the Unit Manager to correctly monitor the normal and overtime hours
  • Giving feedback to the unit manager to assess optimal performance
Effective Quality and Infection prevention management
  • Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirements
  • Ensuring the disposal of medical waste to effectively control infection
  • Adhering to sterility principles
Effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Attend review and consultative forum meetings to maintain healthy relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Maintain a healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved issues to the unit manager
Requirements
  • General Nursing Degree / Diploma and registration with SANC
  • Diploma in Operating Room Science
  • Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs
  • 5 years Theatre Experience required
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players
  • Computer proficiency would be an advantage
  • Own transport essential
