Job description

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse – D Ward, based at Life Westville Hospital, reporting to the Sr L Pillay, Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic patient care and fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders in line with company & hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

• Conduct basic duties as allocated by the Unit Manager.
• Ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction according to Life Healthcare Policies & Procedures.
• Manage other categories of nursing staff according to their Scope of Practice.
• Maintain sound professional relationships with all patients, doctors and other members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
• Effectively manage risk in the unit by complying with Health, Safety & Infection Control policies and procedures.
• Participate in the management of costs in the unit (stock, staffing, and equipment).
• Identify training needs and initiate facilitation.

Requirements

• Registered at SANC as a Registered Nurse.
• Matric Certificate.
• Nursing experience in a surgical ward essential.
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
