Our client is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) / Professional Nurse (PN) with proven UROLOGY experience.

This is for fixed shifts at a private practice group in Pretoria (Gauteng).

Period

Nov - April

Paid training will be provided and work starts in January.

Hours

Mon - Friday 08:00. Off over Dec.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid SANC licence
• Must have own indemnity insurance cover
• At least 6 months working experience in an Urology environment is essential
• A good understanding and application of the nursing scope of practice
• Knowledge of clinical procedures, relevant nursing legislation, the Scientific Nursing Process and BCA bundles
• Management of surgical equipment and instruments
• Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
• Risk management
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Own transport

Duties and Responsibilities

• Uro-dynamic studies (for Gauteng Urology as well as other referred patients)
• Assist doctors in stent removal procedures in rooms, and set up scope for stent removal
• Assist doctors in scope procedures in rooms
• Responsible for all the stock necessary for UDS studies and stent removals in rooms
• BCG Bladder Cancer installations (only Gauteng Urology practice)
• Teaching patients to self‑catheterisation – register on Coloplast programme
• Changing of catheters – supra‑pelvic or urethral
• Nursing duties such as: removing clips, removing stents, removing catheters, small wound care, giving injections, collecting midstream urine
• Uro‑flow studies
• Healthcare information on urology patients
• Stock control and ordering of stock for practices
• PMA and application for chronic medication forms
• Quotations, billing and payments for uro‑dynamic patients and BCG patients on Vericlaim
• Traveling between three urology practices
