Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Supervisor for Phlebotomy to oversee and lead a team of phlebotomists and nurses while ensuring that patient care standards are consistently met.

This individual will be responsible for the supervision, training, and management of phlebotomy staff, along with coordinating phlebotomy services within our healthcare facility.

Full responsibility and 24 / 7 accountability for overall operations for the clinical area(s)s / unit(s) as per the Organization Chart and / or as per assignment; demonstrating strong critical thinking skills in making appropriate clinical and managerial decisions and judgments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and mentor phlebotomy staff to ensure high standards of patient care and technical competency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection control protocols, and safety standards related to phlebotomy procedures.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for phlebotomy / nursing services.
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Coordinate scheduling and daily operations for nurses / phlebotomists to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction.
  • Address patient concerns or complaints related to phlebotomy / nursing procedures and ensure a positive experience.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to improve service excellence / delivery patient care and streamline services.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in phlebotomy / nursing techniques and technology.
  • Provide support and assistance during complex or difficult blood draw procedures.
  • Ensue all staff are appropriately assigned to job positions and allocations and maintain valid qualifications and competencies, as well as probationary and annual performance appraisals.
  • Empowers and supports the development of staff at all levels to maintain a high-performing workforce and adequate succession planning.
  • Fosters growth and development of a national workforce.
  • Promotes confidence and transparency through effective and professional communications.
  • Supports, develops and ensures compliance of evidence-based policies, procedures and guidelines in fulfilment with regulatory requirements.
  • Leads and models patient experience initiatives across the continuum of care while working inter-professionally within the facility.
Requirements
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
  • SANC Phlebotomist with valid License HPSCA Diploma in Phlebotomy an advantage.
  • Nursing diploma / Degree.
  • Minimum of (3-5) years of experience in a clinical nursing / Phlebotomy role, with at least (3-5) years of experience in phlebotomy / Nursing or laboratory settings.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, patient care standards, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and handle high-stress situations.
  • Current CPR / BLS certification.
