Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician for a Vereeniging-based role. You will install, maintain and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems in supermarkets, cold rooms, and processing plants, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires a trade qualification (NQF 4 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) and at least five years’ hands-on experience. Travel within Gauteng and standby duties may be required, with opportunities for ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Qualified Refrigeration Technician with a relevant trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing and repairing commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, and manifold gauges.
• Experience with various refrigerants and understanding of environmental regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel within the Gauteng province.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including standby duties.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex refrigeration and electrical issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing on refrigeration equipment.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Respond to emergency service calls promptly and efficiently.
• Manage service documentation, including work orders and parts inventory.
• Provide technical advice and support to clients regarding their refrigeration systems.
• Work with various refrigerants, adhering to environmental regulations.
