About the Role

Our client, a prominent financial institution with a robust property division, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Real Estate Valuations Manager to lead their valuation team in Bloemfontein, Free State . This critical role involves overseeing the valuation of a diverse range of properties for lending, investment, and portfolio management purposes. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for managing a team of professional valuers, setting valuation policies, and providing expert advice on property market trends and asset values. Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage the team of property valuers, overseeing workload and performance. Develop and implement valuation policies, procedures, and best practices in line with industry standards (e.g., RICS, SACPVP) and regulatory requirements. Review and approve valuation reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Conduct complex property valuations for various purposes, including mortgage lending, investment analysis, and dispute resolution. Provide expert advice on property market trends, economic factors impacting property values, and investment opportunities. Ensure all valuations are conducted in an independent, objective, and unbiased manner. Liaise with internal departments (e.g., credit, risk, portfolio management) and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, legal advisors) on valuation matters. Stay current with changes in property legislation, valuation standards, and market dynamics in the Free State and wider South African context. Manage relationships with external valuation panels and ensure service level agreements are met. Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the institution's property portfolio. Implement quality control measures to ensure the highest standard of valuation services.

Requirements

Professional qualification as a Professional Valuer (Pr. Val) with the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP). A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in property valuation. Proven experience in managing a team of valuers or a significant function within a valuation department. In-depth knowledge of valuation methodologies for various property types (commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural). Strong understanding of the South African property market, particularly within the Bloemfontein and Free State region. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional report writing and presentation abilities. Proficiency in relevant valuation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong leadership and people management skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively. Valid driver's license and willingness to undertake site visits as required.
