Job summary

The Department of Health is inviting applications for a Medical Officer in Radiology at Pholosong Regional Hospital. The post offers engagement in a multidisciplinary radiology team and exposure to multiple imaging modalities in a public hospital setting.

You will provide radiology services under supervision, ensure safe procedures, and contribute to patient management with accurate reporting and after-hours coverage as required.

Qualifications

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent; MBChB/MBBCh degree required.
• Current HPCSA registration as an independent Medical Practitioner.
• Appropriate Radiology experience; Registrar exposure advantageous.
• Sound clinical judgment, good communication and teamwork.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and patient safety; familiarity with legislation.
• Computer literacy; MS Office; PACS/RIS familiarity advantageous.
• Participation in after-hours call system and Commuted Overtime mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide Medical Officer radiology services under supervision and determine imaging examinations.
• Interpret and report diagnostic imaging across radiography, ultrasound, CT and other modalities.
• Ensure patient preparation, informed consent where required, and safe management.
• Participate in emergency/after-hours radiology services and escalation of critical findings.
• Collaborate with Radiologists, Radiographers, Nurses and clinicians for safe, efficient care.
• Maintain records and contribute to governance, audits, safety and quality.
