Tracker is seeking a Radio Frequency Network Engineer to join the Product Performance Department. You will monitor, maintain and upgrade RF networks across high and repeater sites, ensuring maximum availability with minimal downtime.

The role requires five years in a telecoms environment, strong RF/antenna knowledge, fault-finding and administrative skills, with willingness to travel and operate in Linux/Windows environments.

• Bachelor-level qualification in RF/telecommunications or electrical engineering.
• Minimum of five years’ work experience in a telecommunications environment.
• Knowledge of RF systems, antennas and related transmission technologies.
• Strong fault-finding and analytical abilities.
• Good administrative skills and travel willingness.
• Computer literacy in Linux and Windows environments; MS Office proficiency.

Tracker - Radio Frequency Network Engineer

Tracker requires the services of a Radio Frequency Network Engineer in our Product Performance Department. We require a diligent and driven individual, who can be a part of a high performing team.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Monitor the existing radio frequency network and ensure maximum availability, with minimum downtime.
2. Maintain, repair and upgrade the existing radio frequency network, of high sites and repeater sites.
3. In consultation with the Network Planning Personnel, identify areas where RF coverage is inadequate and commission new sites in these areas.
4. Manage an effective preventative maintenance plan, pertaining specifically to the radio frequency network.
5. Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade the network of telemetry field units, used to test customer’s vehicles.
6. Manage an effective inventory control system, relating specifically to the various components of the radio frequency network.
7. Manage configuration control and engineering change procedures and documentation.
8. Manage all fixed assets relating to the network and ensure that they are maintained in a serviceable condition at all times.
9. Ensure that any work carried out to the radio frequency network is completed in the most cost-effective manner.
10. Liaise with internal/external customers on issues pertaining to the radio frequency network.
11. Assist with new developments and modifications, pertaining to the radio frequency network.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or a B-Tech Degree (Electrical Engineering - light current).
• Minimum of five years’ work experience, obtained within a telecommunications environment.
• Technical knowledge, relating specifically to RF systems, communication systems and antennas.
• Possess good fault finding and analytical skills.
• Possess good administrative skills.
• Be prepared to travel.
• Be computer literate (Linux, MS Windows, MS Office) and a self-starter.
• Fall Arrest certification would be advantageous.
