Job description

A well-established and dynamic company within the building and construction supply industry is seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to join their team. The position is based at a quarry site outside Malmesbury.

The company specialises in supplying the industry with aggregates, readymix, and precast elements (including hollowcore and stairs). We are looking for a driven, hands-on professional to take full operational responsibility for both a granite open‑cast mine and a sand mine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage day‑to‑day quarry operations in line with Health & Safety requirements
  • Drive production efficiency and ensure daily targets are met
  • Take decisive action during plant / fleet breakdowns, staff shortages, incidents, technical issues, or client queries
  • Coordinate and plan drilling and blasting activities
  • Ensure all machinery is properly maintained and operated in accordance with legal and safety standards
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules and ensure effective planning
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of material produced
  • Prepare for, manage, and facilitate monthly DMRE inspections and ensure full compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Mine Health & Safety Act and the mine’s Environmental Management Programme (EMP)
  • Report, action, investigate, and resolve incidents as per procedure
  • Manage client queries and complaints, ensuring timely and continuous communication
Minimum Requirements
  • Examine and Make Safe qualification
  • Open cast blasting ticket
  • NQF5 qualification advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant technical, production and planning fields
  • Strong management, communication, and customer service abilities
  • Excellent problem‑solving and team‑leadership skills
