Job summary

A leading consulting firm in South Africa is seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to manage cost aspects of interior construction projects. The candidate will prepare cost estimates, manage project budgets, and ensure compliance with regulations. With a minimum of 5 years in quantity surveying, strong knowledge of procurement and contract administration is essential. Overview

We are currently recruiting a detail-oriented and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with preferred experience within the interior design industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all cost aspects of interior construction and refurbishment projects from inception to completion, ensuring value for money, cost control, and contract compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documentation for interior fit-out projects.
  • Manage project budgets, track cost variations, and conduct regular cost reporting.
  • Oversee procurement of subcontractors, materials, and services, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and valuations to assess progress and ensure accurate billing.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Handle cost control, risk management, and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and contractors to support successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, contract law, and company policies.
  • Prepare final accounts and ensure timely project close-out.
Personal Attributes and Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in quantity surveying with a focus on interior fit-out projects.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Proficient in estimating software and MS Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and deadlines.
