Job summary

A well-established construction firm based in Brackenfell, Cape Town, is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a Btech or BSc in Quantity Surveying and have 4-8 years of experience. Responsibilities include cost estimation, procurement advice, and contract administration. The role requires strong financial expertise, knowledge of contractual obligations, and excellent communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to various phases of construction projects.

Qualifications

  • Btech QS or BSc QS (or in process).
  • 4 - 8 Years' experience.
  • Professional registration will be advantageous.
  • Computer literate in Excel and MS Office.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing initial estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies.
  • Developing Bills of Quantities (BoQ), tender documents, and contracts.
  • Identifying and analyzing potential financial and contractual risks.
  • Assisting with sourcing materials, selecting contractors, and tendering.
  • Monitoring project spending, tracking variations, and managing budgets.
  • Measuring and valuing work done for payment certificates.
  • Managing head contracts, sub-contracts, and payments.
  • Communicating with clients, site managers, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Valuing variations and finalizing project accounts.
  • Handling claims and contractual issues.
  • Providing advice on long-term maintenance and running costs.
