WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

PURPOSE OF THE JOB : This role is responsible for supervising and performing quality inspections and packaging to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and procedures.

This role involves leading a team of technicians and operators, troubleshooting quality issues, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with production and management teams.

This is a working role therefore the incumbent shall be responsible for their duties in their current roles as well as supporting the supervision of the shift.

This role is a shift-based role and requires supervision per shift in all the inspection areas of cell 10

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Perform various types of NDT methods more especially ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle testing Examine products for possible internal and external defects Ensure the best practice techniques are properly and consistently utilized for inspection activities Ensure compliance to applicable company systems requirements and maintain traceability of components Ensure completion of documentation associated with projects Sentencing of components based on the applicable specification Ensure effective segregation of non-conforming products Ensure workplace safety and adherence to health and safety regulations Ensure each person on shift is well coordinated and performing their functions as per the instructions given Maintain discipline and adherence to company standards Ensure shift co-ordination, shift planning and staff support Improve communication and reporting and perform plant audits for related area and work Ensure material flow and make decisions to improve throughput Ensure material flow and work carried out in all 10 areas and other quality areas where necessary Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance ISO Standards with respect to SHE / Quality / Environmental / Energy.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

POST REQUIREMENTS : NQF Level 6 in Quality Management / Engineering or equavalent qualification. NDT – Ultrasonic testing (UT) level II or Magnetic particle testing (MPI) level II. Phased array ultrasonic testing qualification would be advantageous. At least 5 years' experience in NDT with specific focus on ultrasonic inspection and magnetic particle testing. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specification, technique sheets and procedures. Good at fault finding and trouble shooting skills. Attention to detail is important. Ability to focus while conducting repetitive work. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work within a team. A logical, flexible, self-motivated, reliable, well-spoken individual with thoroughness and tenacity. Ability to take ownership, manage and lead staff on shift. Knowledge and ability to apply the MS Office Software, especially Word & Excel packages are essential. Ability to work independently without supervision and work shifts. Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and / or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency. Handle communication in a professional manner with Customers, regulatory auditors, suppliers and colleagues. Demonstrate capability of solving minor and complex problems.

Communicate the process behind your thinking when arriving at a solution using data, logic, judgement and problem-solving tools. Demonstrate attention to detail when preparing, reviewing and approving documentation for audits, customer communication or developing procedures. Showing ownership of work carried out as well as assuming responsibility for successfully accomplishing objectives or identifying where objectives are not successfully completed. Knowledge of SAP or ERP system. Proficient computer skills –MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
