What the person must be able to do :

This role is in the South African metal products manufacturing industry. All duties would take place in this context.

  • Address supplier quality issues
  • Significantly reduce rework time
  • Implement TQM
  • Manufacturing process improvement
  • People skills and interdepartmental harmonisation skills
Key Job Deliverables (First 6‑12 Months) :
  • Address supplier quality issues. Currently PCB boards have a failure rate of 15‑30%. Get this down to 5% within 6 months and 1% within 12 months.
  • 20% of available hours are being spent on rework. Get this down to 5% within 6 months and 1% within 12 months.
  • Implement TQM quality practices in the business (Not a paper exercise)
  • Implement managed SLA’s with suppliers which includes test certifications
  • Implement Electronics PCB test jigs and equipment at suppliers
Background work experience
  • 5+ years experience in electronics and PCB manufacturing
  • 3+ years experience in a quality management role in electronics and PCB manufacturing – this must specifically include effective quality improvement products
  • ISO or Six Sigma Qualification
  • Diploma or Degree in Electronics
  • Proven track record in quality projects (we will check references)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
