Job summary

A leading food manufacturer is seeking a Quality Manager in Cape Town to oversee the implementation and maintenance of their Quality Management System across factories and warehouses. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, substantial experience in quality management, and strong leadership skills. Responsibilities include managing audits and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This role offers a dynamic environment focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality and manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in managing internal and external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage QMS including document control and audits.
  • Drive the implementation of the consumer safety management system.
  • Liaise with certification bodies for compliance.

Skills

Continuous improvement methodologies (TPM/WCM/Lean)
Strong communication skills
Sound working knowledge of the MS Office suite

Education

Bachelor's degree in natural science or engineering

What You Will Do
  • Implement and manage QMS
    • Document control
    • Record keeping
    • Corrective and preventative action
    • Audits
    • Non-conformance management
  • Implement and manage consumer safety management system
    • Drive the implementation of the Tiger core standards
    • Drive implementation of PRP’s
    • Driving the implementation of HACCP
  • Implement and maintain certification
    • Drive certification compliance
    • Liaise with certification bodies
  • Maintain quality related legal and customer requirements
    • Drive compliance
  • Drive plant hygiene services
    • Cleaning contracts
    • Garment
    • Canteen services
    • Sanitary services contract
  • Custodian for DMS quality module
    • Implement and maintain the DMS quality module (super users)
  • Continuous improvement
    • Analyse internal and external audit findings for trends to identify CI opportunities
What You’ll Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification in a natural science / engineering.
  • TQM or Quality qualification advantageous.
  • Continuous improvement methodologies (TPM/WCM/Lean)
  • Sound working knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook; PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality and manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in managing internal and external audits.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches.
