Job summary

Sastel Packaging in Pretoria, Gauteng, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform chemical, physical and microbial tests on raw, in‑process and finished materials, ensuring accurate interpretation and reporting. You will support the Quality Assurance Manager with validations and investigations, prepare scientific reports, and liaise with external laboratories for routine and non‑routine tests.

Requirements include Grade 12 with maths and science, an N4 qualification in a food or laboratory

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with maths and science at N3 level.
• An N4 qualification in a food/laboratory-related field (example Foodtech diploma).
• Be able to work independently and with a team.
• Good communication skills (telephonic and email).
• Above-average knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical, physical and microbial tests on raw, in-process and finished materials, and report results.
• Investigate deviations and support quality control tests with investigations and validations.
• Write scientific reports and communicate with external laboratories for routine and non-routine tests.
