Qualifications

  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of geometric tolerance and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical inspections and approve incoming materials based on specifications.
  • Implement quality control and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Document inspection results and report non-conformities.

Job description
Quality Control
  • Strong capability to perform mechanical inspections (CMM advantageous).
  • Strong sense of direction.
  • Ability to lift and move.
  • Ability to implement quality control.
  • Control of process and final product scrap and rework.
  • Approves incoming materials, qc specific consumables, tooling as per ECL plan by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
Quality Assurance
  • Review of quality documentation when applicable.
  • Implementation and review of quality processes.
  • Ability to analyse, improve and optimize quality.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal requirements.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Reports non-conformities.
  • Records, captures and monitors scrap and rework.
  • Non-destructive and destructive testing of samples as per requirements.
Test Facilities
  • Management of internal and external testing of products.
  • Ability to perform testing of products.
  • Ability to work and support operational needs.
  • Availability to work overtime to support operational requirements.
What Qualifications You Should Have
  • NQF 5 (Higher Certificate) Qualification in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Exposure and understanding of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in mechanical inspection in manufacturing.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing would be an advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in the application of sampling plans & materials.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of geometric tolerance and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of measurement practices.
  • Ability to work in other quality areas when required.
