Job summary

A food production company in Hermanstad, Pretoria is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to oversee product quality and food safety through daily QA activities. The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Food Technology or Food Science and at least 2 years' experience in food manufacturing. Responsibilities include running quality checks, managing non-conforming stock, and executing various sampling protocols. This role is on-site, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in food manufacturing / production.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP / ISO / FSSC.

  • Perform ATP, allergen, micro, and water sampling.

Job description

Location: Hermanstad, Pretoria | Schedule: On-site, Mon–Fri | Start: 01 November

Reports to: QA Manager

Purpose: Help us protect product quality and food safety on the factory floor through daily QA activities, spot issues early, record accurately, and escalate promptly.

Key Outcomes
  • Run hygiene, quality, pest, cleaning, mixing, operational checks; verify PRPs & CCPs.
  • Perform ATP, allergen, micro & water sampling; verify labels and records; manage retention & shelf‑life samples.
  • Identify and manage non‑conforming stock and waste, drive corrective actions.
  • Control utensils and cleaning equipment by allergen group; maintain stores; liaise with hygiene service providers.
  • Uphold food safety, quality and H&S procedures; support traceability / recalls and QA projects.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification: Food Technology / Food Science.
  • 2+ years in food manufacturing / production.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP / ISO / FSSC.
  • Detail‑driven, proactive problem‑solver with clear communication.
  • Solid Excel / Word / Outlook skills.
