Job description

SUMMARY :

A well-established butchery based in Lansdowne, Cape Town is seeking a qualified and experienced Quality Controller to join its production team.

POSITION INFO
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance with food legislation, internal policies, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and enforce QC SOPs throughout production.
  • Maintain and update QC documentation and thorough record‑keeping.
  • Conduct routine inspections, checks, and product testing in line with FSSC 22000 and other food safety protocols.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues through effective problem‑solving and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with production teams to maintain consistent product standards and improve processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior QC staff.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Communicate quality findings and reports clearly to management and relevant departments.
  • Work effectively under pressure to meet production and compliance deadlines.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Food Science / Food Technology / Quality Management or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quality Controller in the meat / food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Food safety regulations
    • QC systems and manufacturing standards
    • FSSC 22000 principles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Computer literacy and ability to compile clear QC reports.
