Job Opportunity: Quality Controller – Bellville, Cape Town

We are looking for 3 experienced Quality Controllers to join our team in Bellville, Cape Town.

In this hands‑on role, you will ensure food safety and quality standards are met, monitor staff compliance, and support operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality procedures, standards, and specifications are consistently followed.
  • Conduct defect assessments in line with customer standards and inform staff of defects.
  • Monitor staff performance and report non‑conformances to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, including fish knife control and other critical registers.
  • Ensure fly units are functioning and sanitation procedures are followed after breaks.
  • Enforce PPE compliance and prevent contamination risks (earrings, rings, cosmetic nails, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with SHE policies, including forklift operation, loading, strapping, transport, and packaging standards.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in production areas.
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external business relationships.
  • Attend to ad‑hoc duties as required by the Operations Manager.
Requirements
  • FSSC certification (required).
  • Proven experience in food safety and quality control roles.
  • Experience managing staff in a production or operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, PPE standards, defect assessment, and non‑conformance management.
  • Matric (Grade 12) and basic computer literacy essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Physically able to move around production areas and perform occasional lifting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as required.
