Purpose Of The Job

Our client has an excellent opportunity available for a Qualified Automotive Technician to join their well-established gearbox specialist workshop in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will perform the full scope of mechanical duties with a particular focus on gearbox repairs, diagnostics and related mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full spectrum of mechanical work from diagnostics, fault‑finding and repairs to overhauls and rebuilds
• Conduct gearbox removal, stripping, repair, reassembly and installation
• Carry out vehicle inspections, diagnostics and road tests to ensure quality workmanship
• Maintain accurate job cards and service documentation
• Work efficiently to meet productivity and turnaround targets
• Ensure adherence to safety and workshop standards at all times
• Assist with technical problem‑solving and provide support to fellow technicians
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional workspace
• Communicate effectively with workshop management regarding progress and technical issues

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in the motor industry as a Qualified Technician
• Motor Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (qualified artisan)
• Mechanical Diploma or Certificate (advantageous)
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
• Experience working with gearboxes, transmissions and drivetrain systems (essential)
• Ability to perform diagnostics and fault‑finding accurately
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 8 or higher)
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Motor Industry experience Essential!!
