Job summary

A leading consulting firm in Johannesburg seeks a Mid-Career QC Officer to oversee welding quality control processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in compiling welding documentation, advising on set-up procedures, and implementing ISO standards. Required qualifications include Grade 12 with Maths and Science, SAIW Welding Inspector certification, and 3-5 years of relevant experience. This is a contractor position offering competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Eng & Maths / Science / Technical Drawings.
  • SAIW Welding & Fabrication Inspector Level 2 certification.
  • ISO 9001: 2015 Implementation Experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in relevant fields.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on acceptable levels of set-up and weld preparation.
  • Monitor timely repair of all weld failures.
  • Compile and maintain welding N.D.T and Heat Treatment documentation.
  • Monitor welding consumable storage and control system.
  • Ensure the control of all equipment and protective gear.
  • Perform weld visual inspections.
  • Review ongoing processes.
  • Interview employees and investigate non-conformance reports.
  • Implement standards Practice system and utilize control mechanisms.
  • Compile code databooks and review completed documents.

QC Officer

Report to : Operations Manager

Seniority Level : Mid-Career (3-5 yrs exp)

Type : Contractor

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Advice on acceptable levels of set-up and weld preparation from boilermaker / pipe fitters prior to welding.
  • Monitor the timely repair of all weld failures
  • Compile and maintain all welding N.D.T and Heat Treatment documentation according to the Standard Practice System.
  • Monitor welding consumable storage and control system in accordance with standard practices
  • Ensure the control of all equipment and protective gear
  • Perform weld visual inspections
  • Review ongoing processes
  • Interview employees
  • Investigate outstanding non-conformance reports
  • Implementation of standards Practice system
  • Utilization of standard process control mechanism, forms, checklist and reporting structures
  • Progressive compilation of code databooks.
  • Review and approval of completed code databooks
  • Issuing of completed datebooks to AIA and or Customer for approval.
Qualifications :
  • Grade 12 Eng & Maths / Science / Technical Drawings
  • SAIW Welding & Fabrication Inspector Level 2
  • ISO 9001 : 2015 Implementation Experience
