Job summary

HEINEKEN Beverages in Wadeville Production invites applications for a Quality Packaging Analyst role. The incumbent will perform routine analyses and packaging material checks to ensure conformance to specifications, maintain a comprehensive quality programme, and support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

The position demands 1–3 years in QA/QC within FMCG, strong knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC and SANS 1841, and SAP proficiency.

Qualifications

• BSc Degree or National Diploma in Natural Sciences, Packaging, Food Science or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years' experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control environment.
• Experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment is essential.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and food safety standards.
• Understanding of ISO 9001, FSSC and SANS 1841 requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and training/coaching abilities.
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in SAP and quality reporting systems will be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure online rejections are handled efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure the timely release of conforming finished goods both physically and on SAP.
• Verify that rework activities are completed correctly and conform to quality requirements.
• Assist with ICC audits.
• Train operators on all process control requirements in accordance with CQM-PR-022.
• Train and coach operators on the accurate completion of process control sheets.
• Verify the operational status of Heuft, Checkmate, EBI and FBI systems at least once per shift.
• Verify that all rinsers are functioning correctly once per shift and/or weekly as required.
• Conduct monthly Eye Challenge Tests.
• Conduct annual rinser and washer validations.
• Perform monthly Quality @ Source audits.
• Conduct weekly Packaging Governance audits.
• Verify the use of correct packaging materials as per the approved Object List.
• Collect samples from packaging lines, including retention, DAFF and special request samples.

Heineken Beverages has an exciting opportunity available to a suitable candidate for potential placement in our Quality department. This position will be based at Wadeville Production.

The incumbent will perform routine analyses and performance of packaging materials, to check for conformance to specifications, use of correct material and also investigate complaints relating to the packaging of finished products. The incumbent will maintain and implement a comprehensive quality programme while adhering to corporate governance, to ensure that optimum quality standards are achieved on the final product. The performance of the incumbent in this position is measured annually against a Score Card (Employee Performance Measurement System) Contract – which details the specific KPA’s and KPI’s for the relevant year. The packaging analyst may, upon request act as deputy for Senior Packaging Analyst and assist other Packaging Analysts with relevant duties.

Key Responsibilities

Product Quality, Reporting & Administrative Duties

Quality Management Systems

• Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements, Quality Policy, procedures and work instructions.
• Maintain adherence to ISO 9001, FSSC and SANS 1841 standards.
• Ensure all quality measuring equipment is maintained and calibrated.
• Verify and follow up on allocated CPAR audit findings.
• Assist production teams in troubleshooting non-conforming dry goods during bottling operations.
• Facilitate and support problem-solving initiatives within the department and bottling environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality, bottling, dry goods and finished goods operations.
• Conduct DPMO audits during packaging operations and provide feedback to the Packaging team.
• Support Packaging in the isolation and quantification of non-conforming dry and finished goods.

TPM and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain and update visual management boards and performance charts.
• Ensure 5S principles are sustained within the area of responsibility.
• Promote and adhere to focused improvement principles.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration within the department.
• Support the Product Quality (PQ) Pillar in TPM implementation.
• Participate in and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) activities and improvement teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
