Set Consulting in Gauteng seeks an experienced Proposals Engineer to prepare technically sound and commercially competitive tenders for utility boiler and environmental projects.
You will review customer enquiry documents, conduct site visits, define project scope with the Applications Engineering Manager, liaise with subcontractors, and compile tenders within agreed deadlines. This role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, a Sales certificate, and knowledge of NEC/FIDIC contracts.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Proposals Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation within the utilities sector. Reporting to the Sales & Proposals Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing technically sound and commercially competitive proposals for utility boiler and environmental projects while supporting the achievement of annual sales and profitability targets.
Review customer enquiry documents and interpret technical and commercial requirements.
Conduct site visits to assess customer requirements and gather project information.
Liaise with the Applications Engineering Manager to define project scope and technical solutions.
Prepare, issue, and evaluate enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
Work closely with the Estimating Department to develop accurate cost estimates.
Liaise with Finance and Planning regarding commercial terms and delivery schedules.
Present tender submissions during internal pricing and adjudication meetings.
Compile and submit comprehensive tenders within agreed deadlines.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular site visits and communication.
Support the standardisation of estimating and marketing procedures.
Confirm project delivery programmes with the Planning Department.
Perform general system administration and other duties required to support business objectives.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc, BEng or BTech).
Sales Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Working knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contracts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
5–10 years' engineering experience within a utility boiler environment or a similar heavy industrial or power generation environment.
