Job summary

Staff Unlimited Recruitment is seeking an experienced property accountant to oversee the full accounting function for property and holding companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance across the group. The role emphasizes robust financial reporting and control improvements.

Key focus areas include intercompany reconciliations, tax compliance (VAT, provisional taxes, SARS), and year-end processes, with a migration from Sage Pastel to Zoho. On-site work in the Eastern Cape is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in property accounting or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel, Pastel; familiarity with Sage Pastel Partner; experience with Zoho beneficial.
• Sound understanding of tax compliance, VAT, provisional taxes, and SARS procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively on-site.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to accounting system implementations or migrations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting function for property and holding companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Process, review, and reconcile accounting transactions, journals, accruals, and prepayments.
• Conduct bank, general ledger, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate Trial Balances, management accounts, and financial reports.
• Investigate discrepancies, resolve outstanding accounting matters, and maintain intercompany accounts.
• Handle loan account allocations, reconciliations, and monthly interest calculations.
• Maintain property-related financial records, contracts, and monitor contractual obligations.
• Ensure precise recording of transactions, income, expenses, and VAT submissions.
• Prepare and submit tax returns, manage statutory tax compliance, and respond to SARS queries.
• Liaise with external auditors, prepare audit files, and facilitate smooth audit processes.
• Support year-end reporting and assist with system migration from Sage Pastel to Zoho.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and automate routine tasks.
