Our client, a leading Engineering Consulting company is looking to appoint a Project Planner to join their team based in Sandton, Gauteng. Reporting to the Senior Project Planner the successful individual will be responsible for compiling and managing the project master schedule to ensure projects are completed on time.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Matric AND Tertiary qualification in project management or project controls
  • MS project advanced / expert level
  • Primavera6
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications albeit technical, management or business related could be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years\' experience in a project management or planning / scheduling role.
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience in the engineering or mining sector.
  • Additional exposure to disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation.
  • Experience in the interaction with Clients both on site and in formal office settings e.g. meetings, design reviews, etc.
  • Experience liaising and gathering information from contractors, both during progress meetings as well as telephonic and e-mail communications.
  • A working knowledge of metallurgical operations and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Civil, mechanical and structural construction processes, with in-depth understanding of construction sequencing.
  • Manufacturing and construction standards in South Africa and abroad.
  • Construction management, safety, quality and programming.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and define project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyse project effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative tools.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to improve effectiveness and attain project milestones.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor activities of assigned projects to develop and implement procedures, processes and systems.
  • Inform employees in methods to ensure project continuity and completeness.
  • Develop detailed task lists and work effort assessment.
  • Prepare short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all key players and team members.
  • Compile time and quantity-based S-curves.
  • Compile earned value graphs.
  • Collaborate with other role players to compile, analyse and optimise 4-D schedule.
  • Oversee schedules and risk management plans and provide serious deviations warnings hindering project results.
  • Identify changes in work scope in the project plan.
  • Ensure to take appropriate planning measures with all clients to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts and budgets.
  • Ensure to convey required project data and information to project teams.
  • Prepare and present regular internal and external project reports for management.
  • Evaluate and analyse with team risks and issues compromising project results and develop plans to mitigate them.
  • Lead development of baseline schedule and support Project Manager (PM) in Integrated Baseline Review (IBR).
  • Gather actual data, update project schedule and develop reliable schedule forecast with support from project team.

  • Development, training, implementation and maintenance of project systems and programs.
  • Detailed analytical skills to measure, audit, investigate, solve problems, present ideas and negotiate.
  • Exceptional people skills, punctuality and forward planning.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills for submission of management reports, planning and progress meetings.
