Project Manager - Energy Industry

We are seeking a talented and proactive project manager with experience in the energy industry, which includes generation, renewables (wind, solar, etc.), BESS, transmission, and distribution.

Applications are encouraged from those who have experience as contractors, in addition to those with consultancy experience.

This role will involve managing a range of energy projects, working closely with a multi-disciplinary and cross‑functional team, as well as collaborating with our international offices and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of projects or portfolios of projects
  • Organizing and collating timely technical inputs into assignments by liaising with technical teams
  • Supporting the delivery of high‑quality technical advisory works
  • Project planning and scheduling
  • Manage processes and projects on a day‑to‑day basis
  • Contract and project administration
  • Ensure effective information flow between clients, the team, and other parties
  • Compile tender documents and lead the tender process, including tender adjudication
  • Chair project meetings
  • Liaise with clients on a regular basis
  • Willing to travel (in and outside the borders of South Africa)
  • Liaise with key external clients to identify needs and market our company
  • Accept full responsibility for the financial performance of projects managed
  • Carry out process‑related HAZOP and risk assessment studies
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet the required standards
  • Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines
  • Prepare proposals and reports for clients
  • Ability to understand client’s needs and provide supporting service fast and efficiently
  • Motivate teams and ensure deliverable dates are met
  • Manage project finances and variation orders
  • Identify potential business opportunities / clients for services
  • Follow up and act on market trends and engineering developments
  • Follow engineering business development plans
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • BSc / BEng in Electrical Engineering
  • Being Professionally Registered in Project Management (PMP) would be an advantage
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in Project Management and Project Administration
