Job description

A growing South African energy company specialising in small-scale LNG solutions is seeking an experienced and highly driven Project Manager – LNG Supply Chain & Logistics to lead the development, integration and operational readiness of its end-to-end LNG supply chain.

This is a hands-on project management position responsible for coordinating the complete LNG delivery chain — from international LNG sourcing, shipping and port handling through to road transportation, customer-site storage, regasification and final delivery.

The successful candidate will bring structure and control to a complex, multi-party environment involving suppliers, logistics providers, ports, contractors, equipment vendors and customers across Southern Africa.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and manage the end-to-end LNG supply-chain strategy and execution plan, from source through to customer delivery.
  • Coordinate LNG sourcing, loading terminals, ISO containers, shipping schedules and port-handling activities.
  • Develop and manage road transportation plans, delivery routes, fleet requirements and customer delivery schedules.
  • Assess customer-site requirements for LNG storage, regasification, metering, pipelines and associated equipment.
  • Prepare RFQ scopes and coordinate equipment suppliers, contractors, installation teams and commissioning activities.
  • Develop logistics, inventory, capacity and cost models to optimise supply reliability and commercial performance.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project programmes, budgets, action registers and risk registers.
  • Coordinate interfaces and dependencies between LNG suppliers, logistics providers, ports, contractors, equipment suppliers and customer sites.
  • Drive operational readiness and ensure all supply-chain elements are in place ahead of customer supply commencement.
  • Monitor supply-chain costs against budget and maintain appropriate cost-control processes throughout development and implementation.
  • Identify logistical, technical, commercial and operational constraints and drive appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate the transition from project development and implementation into ongoing operational supply-chain management.
  • Ensure the end-to-end supply chain remains controlled, reliable, cost-effective and capable of meeting customer requirements once operational.
  • Provide regular project and supply-chain status reporting to senior management.
ROLE SCOPE

The position spans the development, implementation and eventual operational management of an integrated LNG supply chain.

You will be responsible for bringing together sourcing, shipping, port operations, ISO container logistics, road transportation, customer-site infrastructure, equipment suppliers and operational requirements into one executable delivery model.

The role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategic planning and practical execution, identifying issues early and taking ownership of resolving them.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline will also be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in project management, industrial supply chains, logistics, energy, gas, fuels, chemicals, mining, infrastructure or a related environment.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple suppliers, contractors, service providers and operating locations.
  • Strong project planning and programme-management capabilities.
  • Experience managing budgets, costs, risks and project deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent stakeholder and supplier-management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex interfaces and competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Richards Bay, customer sites, ports and supplier locations as required.
ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience or exposure to any of the following would be highly advantageous:

  • LNG / LPG
  • Oil & Gas
  • Cryogenic equipment
  • Gas infrastructure
  • ISO LNG containers
  • Dangerous-goods transportation
  • Port and terminal operations

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will be a practical, energetic and highly accountable project leader who thrives in complex industrial environments.

You should be comfortable working across technical, commercial, logistical and operational interfaces, while coordinating multiple stakeholders toward common delivery milestones.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.
  • Can turn complex requirements into clear, executable plans.
  • Is commercially and cost-conscious.
  • Challenges assumptions and identifies potential constraints early.
  • Has strong supplier and contractor-management skills.
  • Can operate effectively between senior management, suppliers, logistics providers, engineers and customers.
  • Remains focused on delivery, safety, reliability and operational readiness.
  • Can transition effectively from project implementation into ongoing supply-chain operations.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role will be demonstrated through:

  • A clear, integrated and executable LNG supply-chain plan from source to customer.
  • Alignment between suppliers, logistics providers, equipment, contractors and customer-site requirements.
  • Effective management of project risks, actions, costs and delivery constraints.
