Job summary

Kempston Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Manager for structural fabrication projects in the Eastern Cape. You will develop plans, lead execution, manage subcontractors, review drawings, ensure compliance with standards, and maintain budgets with regular progress reports.

Qualifications

• 2+ years PM experience in structural fabrication/engineering.
• Autodesk Inventor (3D) experience for structural projects.
• Solid understanding of structural systems and installation methods.
• Proficiency with MS Project or similar PM tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
• Lead project execution with realistic timelines and milestones.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers to align with specs and deadlines.
• Review drawings, fabrication details, and technical documentation.
• Ensure installations meet standards and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations for structural fabrication works.
• Lead project execution with realistic timelines and achievable milestones.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project specifications and deadlines.
• Review and interpret structural drawings, fabrication details, and technical documentation.
• Ensure installations meet engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and implement quality assurance protocols throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking reports.
• Identify and implement cost-effective solutions
• Request supplier quotations and ensure timely ordering of components.
• Provide regular updates and reports on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Design, describe, and quantify standard components for structural projects.
• Develop costing sheets and quotation lists; revalidate quotes annually.
• Plan and lead fabrication jobs for standard part orders
• Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures
• Monitor training records to ensure all personnel are certified and compliant with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, and progress reports.
• Manage approved drawing registers for each project.
• Conduct bi-weekly update inspections, generate snag lists, and track resolution.
• Lead post-project evaluations

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Project Management within the structural fabrication or engineering sector.
• At least 1 year of experience using Autodesk Inventor Professional (3D) in structural fabrication or engineering.
• Strong understanding of structural systems, fabrication techniques, and installation methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (advantageous).
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification (advantageous).
