Job summary

A leading technology firm in South Africa is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead software development projects. The ideal candidate should have over 5 years of experience, a strong foundation in project management principles, and a PMP qualification. Job description

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in software development projects.

The ideal candidate must have proven experience managing full project lifecycles — from initiation and planning through execution and closure — while ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.

Experience with SAP-related projects will be considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan, and execute software development projects using established project management methodologies.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and budgets in alignment with business objectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, testers, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks and issues, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, status updates, and performance metrics to management.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, governance processes, and best practices in line with PMI / PMBOK methodologies.
  • Manage change requests, resource allocations, and stakeholder communications effectively.
  • Facilitate project workshops, sprint planning, and retrospectives (if using Agile methodologies).
  • Collaborate with IT, business units, and vendors to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing software development or IT projects.
  • Project Management qualification – PMP, PMI, or equivalent (mandatory).
  • Solid understanding of PMBOK project management standards and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with SAP implementation or integration projects will be an added advantage.
