Job summary

A leading educational institution seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects ensuring delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality parameters. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with minimum 2 years in project management and familiarity with project management methodologies. This fixed-term contract position offers an opportunity to lead project teams, manage budgets, and enhance project governance until December 31, 2026. Preference will be in terms of the University’s equity policy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in project management with successful project delivery.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned projects ensuring delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans.
  • Lead project teams effectively and provide direction.
  • Manage project budget including cost control and financial reporting.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and maintain effective communication.
  • Implement project governance frameworks and methodologies.
  • Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Create project reports and presentations.
  • Mentor junior project team members.

Required Academic Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree / Advanced Diploma / B. Tech degree on NQF level 7 in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Project management certification would be an advantage.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in project management, with demonstrable evidence of successful project delivery in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid approaches).
Required Competencies
  • Knowledge of project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and communication
  • Risk management and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Expertise in project governance and compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task within a tight deadline environment.
Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Implement and maintain project governance frameworks and methodologies.
  • Lead project meetings and status update sessions.
  • Manage project risks and issues, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Create and present project reports and presentations as may be required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project management framework.
  • Mentor junior project team members and contribute to building project management capability.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned.

Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2026
