Job summary

A leading energy company in Johannesburg seeks an experienced individual for Depot Engineering and Construction. Job description
Depot Engineering and Construction

Prepare and implement investment programme for his / her area of responsibility.

Ensure the safe implementation of technical solutions conforming to legal requirements, TotalEnergies Group Requirements and best practices.

Conduct project feasibility studies for engineering and construction projects, preparing documentation, drawings and recommendation for execution of project.

Submit and obtain local authorities required approvals, prepare and obtain approval for internal Management of Change documentations.

Guide the draughtsman and or consultants in preparation of the construction drawings.

Participate in negotiation for the supply of equipment and engineering contracts with the service providers, in collaboration with the Procurement Project Team.

Plan, organise, control and execute field construction activities, within the given time and budget.

Be responsible for incorporation of local legislation requirements, Group standards and best practices to all engineering and construction projects.

HSEQ

Support the implementation of HSE programmes to ensure constant adherence and compliance to the Company's HSEQ and security standards, any local by‑laws and government legislation so as to minimise all risk pertaining to the company's assets and stock, to be an excellent corporate citizen, remain operational and ensure the safety of all people.

Effectively manage and minimise HSE risk within area of responsibility by ensuring : Compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guideline and legal requirements.

Promotion of safe working environment within your sphere of influence and positively contributing to the company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies.

That HSE competency requirements are identified & enforced within area of responsibility.

Governance

Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility.

Effectively monitor and evaluate variation orders associated with project scope and cost changes.

Provide regular updates to technical manager regarding the projects and providing explanations on any delay with regards to the projects.

Make use of the Project Management tool for Project Management, Document Repository, and Management.

Reporting

Ensure all project data added / uploaded is following the System Health and Governance rules set up with the system, thereby ensuring accurate monitoring of projects.

Ensure assets for all completed projects are added to the asset register and demolished assets are also removed from the asset register.

Data Packs and Safety file handed over to the site on completion of the work.

Provide technical support to Site Maintenance Engineers and Bulk Customer Sites Teams.

Preferred Educational and Experience Requirements

Holds a BSc or BTech degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

A Project Management qualification is considered an added advantage.

Possesses a minimum of six years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with solid expertise in technical engineering and construction within the petroleum sector.

Demonstrates a high level of problem-solving ability, strong negotiation skills, and tenacity.

Proactively challenges assumptions, identifies underlying issues, and drives effective solutions.

A good knowledge of all relevant legislation that guides the industry, e.g. OHS-Act, SANS Standards, API Codes, etc.

English is the working language.
