Placements24 seeks a Project Chemical Engineer to manage capital projects in Benoni, SA. The role covers from conceptualization through construction, commissioning and handover, with on-site supervision and remote planning.

You will lead planning, secure resources, manage risks, coordinate internal teams and external contractors, oversee design/installation/commissioning of equipment, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in project engineering or project management, preferably in chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Experience with P&IDs, equipment specs, and HAZOP studies.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Chemical Engineer to manage and execute capital projects in Benoni . This role is integral to the successful delivery of new plant facilities, process upgrades, and expansion projects. You will be responsible for all phases of project management, from conceptualization and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This hybrid role combines essential on-site supervision and coordination with remote work capabilities for detailed planning, documentation, and stakeholder communication, offering a dynamic and varied career.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and completion of chemical engineering projects within defined scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop project plans, secure resources, and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers to ensure project objectives are met.
• Oversee the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of process equipment and systems.
• Ensure projects comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare project reports, manage change orders, and facilitate project close-out activities.

Requirements
