Duties & Responsibilities
My client is looking for an experienced Project Accountant to provide financial leadership and guidance to a newly acquired subsidiary based in Durban.

Responsibilities
  • Support the business through strategic financial management.
  • Work closely with the Financial Manager to oversee transactional control, journal reconciliations, and fixed asset management.
  • Provide comprehensive financial support to the business, focusing on project‑based initiatives.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports.
  • Manage transactional processes and journal reconciliations, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Oversee fixed asset register and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities for projects, identifying cost‑saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks.
  • Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management, flagging potential issues and proposing solutions.
  • Work closely with the Group CFO, Group CEO, and Divisional Financial Manager to drive strategic financial initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • National Diploma or Degree in Finance or Accounting is essential.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in a full finance function position, preferably in the construction, building, mining or engineering.

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Deadline‑driven with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
