Qualifications

• Registration as General Nurse (Diploma or degree)
• 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelors in Nursing
• Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery preferred
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care, Emergency, Perioperative) if placed in a specialist unit
• BLS/ACLS/PALS training where applicable
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Develop/modify nursing care plans
• Infection prevention and control
• Nursing processes and procedures
• Nursing record keeping
• Patient assessment skills
• Pharmacology
• Nursing legislation
• Risk identification
• Scientific nursing principles and process

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Professional Nurse, in collaboration with a multi-professional team, delivers safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care according to their Scope of Practice regulations. They lead and coordinate nursing teams to enable optimal patient care.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:

Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR

DESIRED EDUCATION:

Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery

Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g. Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri-oprative Nursing) if place in a specialist unit
