A government health department in Pretoria is seeking a Production Speech Therapist/Audiologist to assess and treat patients with communication and hearing impairments. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and HPCSA registration. Responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment with assistive devices, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This position offers a competitive salary of R397 233 per annum plus benefits.

Assessment of patients with communication and hearing impairments through diagnostic audiometry; Screening patients using a combination of tests including otoscopic examination, AABR, tympanometry, reflexes and screening OAE; Treatment of patients using assistive devices based on assessment results, including fitting hearing aids in theatre.
Refer all patients who require further management such as cochlear implants or BAHAs. Manage the audiology department alongside the chief therapist. Supervise junior staff and students. Liaise with multidisciplinary team as needed. Manage department stock (assistive devices, batteries and other consumables). Compile audiology reports on services and patients. Participate in employee surveillance through hearing screening. Market services regularly. Maintain quality assurance in the department. Maintain personal growth through CPD. Liaise with stakeholders regarding services and patient care. Assist STA assistants to develop, maintain and monitor the newborn hearing screening. Develop the diagnostic ABR clinic and assess patients both in the clinic and theatre settings.
