Job summary

A manufacturing company in South Africa is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to maintain quality standards within the production environment. Responsibilities include conducting inline inspections, reporting quality concerns, and compiling data packs. Candidates must have a Grade 12 certificate, TQM certification, and SAIW welding diploma with at least 5 years of technical experience in quality control. Job description
Overview

To act as part of the production team with the collective responsibility for ensuring that the quality function is maintained within the production environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inline inspection of new builds according to Fermel’s work procedures.
  • Inspect paint touch up.
  • Report all internal and supplier quality concerns.
  • Make quality calls that are in line with the customer acceptance level.
  • Raise Nonconformance reports and continuous improvement for all concerns and ensure a timely closure based on data provided.
  • Drive quality in Welding fabrication and production assembly to ensure that reworks are eliminated.
  • Compile a quality data pack for traceability of each build.
  • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Performance Measures / Success Criteria
  • Resolution of Quality concerns in a timely manner not to affect production output.
  • Effective management of meetings between affected parties.
  • Managing conflict between affected parties.
  • Decision making on liability of defect.
  • Effective managing of suspect parts.
  • Assist and investigate CAR’s on ongoing basis
  • Successful campaign managing to resolve defective parts on vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
  • Ability to read and analyses drawings.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing environment relating to (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery)
  • Knowledge of total quality management tools.
  • Fault finding ability and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Driver’s license and must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.

  • Grade 12 (Non-Negotiable)
  • Certificate in Total Quality Management (Non-Negotiable)
  • SAIW Diploma in welding and fabrication inspector level 1(Non-negotiable)
  • Advanced Diploma in Quality Management/ Quality Engineering (Beneficial)

  • Must have experience in production assembly and fabrication environment.

  • Ability to read and use measuring equipment.
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively.
  • 5+ years’ technical experience in quality Control Environment.
