Production Manager (Textiles) required in Cape Town.

An established manufacturer of premium bed linen and home décor products is seeking a seasoned Production Manager to lead operations at its Lansdowne facility. With a team of 40 staff and a long-standing presence in the wholesale, retail, and hospitality sectors, this is a hands-on leadership role focused on efficiency, discipline, and production excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving output, maintaining strict quality standards, and ensuring cost-effective production processes as the company continues to expand into national retail and hospitality markets. This is a long-term operational leadership role suited to someone who values stability, discipline, and sustained growth.

Location: Lansdowne, Cape Town.

R40 000 – R60 000 CTC per month (depending on experience, includes company provident fund)

Minimum Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Textile Technology, Production Management, or Industrial Engineering
• Minimum 5+ years proven managerial experience in a Factory or Production Manager role within the textile manufacturing industry (non-apparel).
• Direct experience in homeware textiles (bedding, cushions, soft furnishings) is essential – apparel-only experience will not be considered.
• Demonstrated success implementing time studies, line balancing, and efficiency systems in a production environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their practical application.
• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal); proficiency in another official South African language advantageous.
• Ability to commute reliably to Lansdowne, Cape Town, or willingness to relocate prior to start date.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Production Planning & Efficiency: Develop and manage detailed production schedules to ensure deadlines for retail, wholesale, and hospitality sectors are consistently met.
• Quality Control: Enforce strict QC processes across cutting, sewing, and finishing to minimise errors and returns.
• Cost & Waste Management: Apply lean methodologies to reduce material waste, optimise labour, and improve cost-per-unit.
• Team Leadership: Lead and maintain a disciplined, productive team of supervisors and production staff. Mentor and train staff to bridge skills gaps.
• Machinery & Maintenance: Oversee sewing, cutting, and production equipment to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.
• Operational Discipline: Focus exclusively on factory-floor performance – IR is managed externally.
