Description
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company based in Port Elizabeth, is seeking to hire an experienced Production Manager to join their team.
Requirements
- Scientific degree (preferably B. Pharm/BSc. Micro/BSc. Operations Management/BSc. Industrial Engineering).
- If the incumbent is not a pharmacist, subordinates (department managers) should be Pharmacists registered with SAPC.
- At least 10 years of production experience as a Production Manager on Senior Management level.
- Strong manufacturing process understanding.
- Extensive experience in continuous improvement techniques and practices.
- Proven management experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely supply of quality products to customers.
- Ensure production-related documentation is GMP-compliant, on-time, and reviewed prior to approval.
- Ensure products are produced and stored according to the appropriate documentation to obtain the required quality.
- Implement/support risk-based approaches for manufacturing operations and equipment within the department.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the department.
- Ensure the department maintains hygiene and cleanliness standards and that cleaning processes are appropriate and efficient.
- Ensure that equipment and processes are validated in the area of responsibility.
- Oversee the adequate maintenance of equipment, utilities, and manufacturing areas.
- Support QA in quality investigations, including product recalls, complaint investigations, deviations, OOS, and change controls.
- Ensure a system is in place for monitoring factors affecting product quality, including inspection, investigation, and sampling.
- Represent the department during inspections and audits.
Budget and Cost Control
- Develop and manage the financial budget for the department.
- Control and optimise department costs.
- Set quality and performance KPIs for the department and monitor performance regularly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to introduce World Class Manufacturing practices.
- Develop a strategic roadmap for the department to meet market and business requirements.
- Identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements, including enhancing product yield.
People Management
- Manage all personnel in the department and provide ongoing performance feedback.
- Ensure that all department personnel are appropriately developed and trained based on job functions.
- Promote best working practices within the department.
- Monitor departmental performance against set quality and performance KPIs.
Quality Management
- Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to the Quality Management System for the department.
- Ensure compliance with all Quality Management controlled processes and documents.
- Represent the department during inspections and audits.
Performance Measurement
- Measure department performance according to plant and production KPIs, defined through the annual performance management process.
