Our Client, in the Rubber/Manufacturing Industry is seeking a Production Manager for their Mixing Department.
Responsibilities
- Production planning: Lead and coach the factory management team and employees; oversee the production process, maintain product quality standards, and ensure cost-effective management of resources; create a production schedule to reduce machine delays and improve product throughput while following safety standards.
- Production control: Supervise the product release process to ensure only passed products are dispatched; ensure that all production equipment and infrastructure needed for production are used according to work instructions and that maintenance is carried out on them timely; manage budgets, investment planning and cost control within the department.
- Quality control: Deliver quality products to spec and on time; ensure that products are produced in accordance with specification and quality standards; produce and ship on time while maintaining high quality product.
- Compliance: Follow and apply the Basic conditions of employment act as well as other South African laws, work hours compliance, proper working hours, and workplace safety according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA); implement best practice to achieve improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Efficiency.
- Inventory control: Inventory management of raw material and finished goods stock in departments; set up inventory systems to balance stock levels with costs, preventing overstocking or shortage.
- High-Level Decision-Making: Impact assessment; make decisions that balance immediate production needs with long-term business goals, minimizing risks; possess strong analytical and decision-making skills; skilled in managing multiple priorities and consistently meeting deadlines.
Qualification and Experience
- Qualification is Production Management or Business Management or equivalent.
- Industrial or Mechanical engineering qualification advantageous.
- Rubber manufacturing experience.
- ± 5 Years in similar role.

- Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills.
- Good people management skills and management of staff.
- Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk.
- Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams.
