A recruitment firm in Cape Town is seeking a Production Manager for their electronics production lab. The ideal candidate will oversee operations, manage production schedules, and ensure product quality and compliance. A Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience are required. Additional knowledge in PCB assembly and leadership skills are essential for this role.
Production Manager - Electronics FM Staff Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Overseeing the efficient operation of the electronics production lab.
Planning and managing production schedules, optimising manufacturing processes, leading a production team, and ensuring product quality and compliance.
Provide hands‑on technical support and continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational goals.
Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
Design, document, and optimise manufacturing processes and workflows.
Supervise production staff, including technicians and operators.
Lead troubleshooting of production issues and root cause investigations.
Ensure adherence to quality standards (e.g., IPC‑A‑) and ESD protocols.
Coordinate with procurement and planning teams for material availability.
Support New Product Introductions (NPI) and pilot production runs.
Maintain accurate production documentation and performance reports.
Develop training programmes and cross‑skilling plans for production staff.
Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams during product development and handover.
Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs or calibrations.
Manage inventory accuracy and minimise production‑related scrap and rework.
Implement and monitor systems for traceability and product serialization (where applicable).
Minimum Requirements To Apply Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years working experience in specifically electronics production.
Sound knowledge of PCB assembly, soldering techniques, ESD control, quality standards, lean manufacturing, equipment troubleshooting.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage teams and production schedules.
Hands‑on technical problem‑solving ability.
Knowledge of IPC and industry safety standards.
