Job Overview

RPO's client is seeking an experienced and resilient Production Manager to join their manufacturing operation based in Meyerton. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Red Seal Fitter with strong leadership capabilities, proven people management experience, and the ability to maintain composure and control in a high‑pressure production environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Team Management & Leadership

Lead, motivate, and manage production teams to meet output, quality, and safety targets. Organise daily workflows and ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly delegated. Foster a disciplined, accountable, and performance‑driven culture on the shop floor.

Production Oversight & Coordination

Oversee all aspects of the production process, ensuring deadlines, safety standards, and efficiency benchmarks are met. Monitor production progress and swiftly respond to operational bottlenecks and challenges. Coordinate cross‑functionally with maintenance, quality, and logistics to streamline operations.

Planning & Organisational

Implement daily and weekly production plans in line with capacity and resource availability. Ensure production schedules are achieved with minimal downtime or deviation. Maintain equipment and resource availability in collaboration with the maintenance department.

Performance Management & Development

Set clear KPIs for team members and conduct regular performance evaluations. Provide training, coaching, and support to build team capability and ensure continuous improvement. Resolve staff‑related issues with professionalism and consistency, ensuring workplace discipline and harmony.

Problem‑Solving Under Pressure

Act decisively in high‑stress or fast‑moving scenarios to maintain control of production. Ensure quick turnaround of production decisions while upholding quality and safety standards. Balance hands‑on technical insight with managerial oversight for optimal results.

Minimum Requirements

Trade Qualification: Red Seal Trade Test as a Fitter (Essential).

Experience

5–10 years’ experience in a production / manufacturing environment. Proven ability to manage teams and production schedules under pressure.

Skills & Attributes

Strong people management and team leadership ability. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to function effectively in an overwhelming and fast‑paced environment.

Age Preference

Mid‑30s to early 40s.
