Job summary

SCallaghan Recruitment is seeking an experienced Production Manager for a well-established manufacturing company based in East London, South Africa.

The successful candidate will oversee production, quality, safety and team development, drive continuous improvement, manage planning and KPIs, and collaborate with maintenance, engineering and logistics to meet targets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5 years' management experience within a production or operations function.
• Strong knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with automated production systems and robotics.
• Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 and quality management systems.
• Computer literacy with advanced MS Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Total Quality Management principles and Quality Core Tools.
• Understanding of supply chain and operational management principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure production targets, quality requirements and customer expectations are achieved.
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Manage production planning, resource allocation and operational efficiencies.
• Oversee quality standards and ensure adherence to relevant quality systems and processes.
• Monitor, analyse and improve production performance through the development and management of KPIs.
