Key purpose of role

To develop, produce, and maintain high-quality audio content and station imaging that defines and enhances the sound identity of Primedia Broadcasting’s radio stations. The Audio Engineer is responsible for crafting compelling audio collateral that aligns with client objectives and brand standards, ensuring a consistent and engaging auditory experience for listeners.

Responsibilities

Station and client promotions: Produce promotional audio content that aligns with both station branding and client objectives, enhancing audience engagement and brand recognition.

Station imaging: Develop station imaging elements (e.g., sweepers, stingers, IDs) that reflect the station’s identity and tone.

Commercial production: Create client commercials that meet high production standards and align with the client’s brand and messaging expectations.

Sales support audio: Produce creative demo audio for sales teams to support pitches and proposals, showcasing the station’s production capabilities.

Debrief audio production: Deliver on‑brief, high‑quality audio content for internal and external debriefs, ensuring clarity and professionalism.

Platform‑specific audio: Produce audio content tailored for various Primedia Broadcasting platforms, ensuring consistency and quality across all channels.

Voice‑over direction: Manage and direct voice‑over artists during recording sessions to achieve the desired tone, pacing, and delivery.

Event production support: Provide ad‑hoc audio production support for Primedia events, ensuring seamless execution and brand alignment.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Diploma in Sound Engineering (Qualifications considered advantageous)
  • Diploma in Sound Engineering or Advanced Certificate or Diploma in Audio Technology (Minimum years of experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in audio and imaging production)
  • Willingness to travel when required for recordings, events, or production support.
  • Proficient in Pro Tools or similar professional audio editing software.
  • Comfortable working on Apple Mac systems and related production tools.
  • Ability to direct and record voice artists with clarity and creative direction.
  • Strong creative thinking and innovation in audio design and imaging.
  • Ability to multi‑task and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • High attention to audio detail and sound quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments (e.g., programming, marketing, sales).
  • Open to feedback and able to incorporate it constructively into production work.
  • Energetic, vibrant, and passionate about audio storytelling.
  • Self‑motivated with strong time‑management and organizational skills.
