Product Manager - Diagnostic Systems Microbiology, Africa

About the Role

As the Product Manager covering DS Microbiology & Lab Automation solutions, the role encompasses the development of marketing strategies and implementation with customer support functions. You will align with commercial teams, DS initiatives, product portfolio, and local market trends to identify projects, generate evidence, engage key opinion leaders (KOLs), and develop marketing strategies that ensure customer experience and centricity excellence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide application support and standardize training curriculum and matrix for internal and external distributors and direct customers.
  • Create value propositions and evidence for KOL advocacy.
  • Assist in tender specification drafting and response preparation when needed.
  • Provide forecasting and budgeting input for commercial teams (near‑ and long‑term planning).
  • Develop marketing plans and strategies in cooperation with the commercial team.
  • Drive the vision and implementation of product initiatives.
  • Ensure marketing collateral is approved via internal standards.
  • Arrange and prepare for events, workshops, seminars and KOL engagements.
  • Prepare presentations and serve as the main BD speaker on microbiology expertise topics or projects, collaborating with regional KOLs.
  • Coordinate regulatory activities to align product launches with market needs.
  • Prioritize, empower, and delegate tasks based on support requirements.
About You

BSc degree in Microbiology and/or Medical Laboratory Sciences with a strong understanding of microbiology workflow and international/national guidelines.

Proven experience in a microbiology lab with commercial, product management, or marketing in a similar environment.

Field communication experience – supporting the sales team and attending customer meetings as required.

Understanding of market dynamics and customer needs within the in‑vitro diagnostic market (IVD).

Ability to work autonomously and independently generate, prioritize, and complete work.

Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Self‑motivated with a desire for self‑development.

Initiative, flexibility, and team‑player mindset.

Good negotiation skills; decisive yet open to suggestion and dialogue; effective in a complex, multicultural, matrixed organization.
