Job description

We're actively recruiting a Product Growth Lead as we continue to scale our growing FinTech division at M-KOPA. You'll turn data, experiments, and hands‑on CRM execution into scalable growth systems that unlock financial inclusion for millions across Africa.

The Impact 💚

Your campaigns will directly drive measurable customer and revenue growth while creating financial inclusion for Africa's traditionally excluded. We've already helped over 7 million customers access over $2 billion in credit. It's your chance to be part of something that's literally transforming lives across an entire continent 🌍

The Opportunity

🎯 Mission‑driven product growth: This is a rare opportunity to do genuinely meaningful work that scales – you'll drive growth for products that unlock financial progress for millions of people across Africa who've been excluded from traditional banking, while working at a profitable, rapidly‑scaling fintech that's cracked one of the hardest problems in emerging markets

🏆 Global recognition: Join a company named by TIME 100 as one of the world's most influential and by the Financial Times as Africa's fastest‑growing for 4 consecutive years (2022‑2025)

📖 Shape the growth playbook: You'll design experiments, prove what works, and turn learnings into scalable frameworks and repeatable playbooks – working with one of Africa's richest proprietary datasets and a unique distribution model (30,000+ field agents + 300 telesales agents + digital channels)

💡 Solve challenging & interesting problems: Work on customer lifetime value, lifecycle progression, alternative credit, and multi‑market scale with real autonomy to shape strategy and execute it yourself

🌱 Environmental impact: We're carbon‑negative, having displaced over 2.1 million tonnes of emissions

If you're a growth operator who's ready to move beyond optimising conversion rates for trivial products and want to build something that matters while accelerating your career in one of the world's fastest‑growing tech ecosystems, this is it.

What You'll Do

This role blends strategy with hands‑on execution. You'll work hands‑on in CRM and engagement platforms daily to build automated customer journeys yourself – from onboarding sequences to retention campaigns to churn prevention. You'll partner closely with Product, Data, and Telesales teams to run structured experiments, analyse funnel performance, and translate learnings into repeatable playbooks.

Your mission: make every campaign smarter, faster, and more profitable than the last.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Build and execute lifecycle campaigns: Design and deploy end‑to‑end automated customer journeys (onboarding, activation, retention, churn prevention) in platforms like CleverTap/Braze – you'll be hands‑on building triggered campaigns and segmentation workflows
  • Design and run growth experiments: Identify friction points in the customer journey and run structured A/B tests on incentives, messaging, timing, and audience segments to improve acquisition, activation, and retention. Test → learn → optimise → scale
  • Own multi‑channel campaign strategy and performance: Develop and execute cross‑channel campaign plans (WhatsApp, SMS, push notifications, in‑app messaging, telesales, Direct Sales Agents) aligned with growth goals. Track and analyse funnel performance to spot new opportunities
  • Translate data into strategy: Use tools like GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Looker to identify drop‑off points in customer journeys, segment users, and recommend next actions that maximise ROI and customer lifetime value. Report clearly on activation rates, conversion, churn, and LTV
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally: Partner with Product, Telesales, and Operations to align campaign messaging, offers, and timing – ensuring experiments connect with real customer behaviour. Influence product roadmap with customer insights from campaigns
  • Document and scale what works: Turn successful experiments into repeatable frameworks, playbooks, and dashboards other teams can apply

Product Growth Tech Stack 💼:

  • CRM/Lifecycle Tools: CleverTap, Braze
  • Analytics: GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker
  • Channels: WhatsApp, SMS, push notifications, in‑app messaging, telesales, and integrated Direct Sales Agent networks
  • Data: Proprietary customer insights spanning millions of transactions across 5 African markets
What You Need

You're a hands‑on growth operator who builds campaigns yourself. You love opening CRM tools daily to design journeys, run tests, and optimise funnels.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years in lifecycle marketing, CRM, or product‑led growth roles – ideally at a fintech, mobile money provider, subscription company, or PAYG business
  • Hands‑on CRM/lifecycle execution: You've built and run end‑to‑end automated customer journeys in platforms like Braze, CleverTap, Customer.io, HubSpot, or Iterable – you own the execution, not just the strategy
  • Multi‑channel campaign expertise: Deep experience with SMS, WhatsApp, push notifications, and in‑app messaging. You've integrated digital campaigns with field sales teams or call centres
  • Structured experimentation mindset: You run A/B tests with clear methodology, use data to iterate, and turn successful experiments into repeatable playbooks
  • Funnel analysis and optimisation: Comfortable using GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Looker to identify drop‑offs, analyse cohorts, and act on insights
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: You've worked directly with Product, Data/Analytics, Operations, and Sales teams to align campaigns with customer behaviour and influence roadmap decisions
What Success Looks Like

You'll see the direct impact of your work through improved customer activation rates, reduced churn, and increased lifetime value. You'll own the end‑to‑end growth process – from identifying opportunities and designing experiments to building campaigns and scaling what works. Success means turning insights into repeatable playbooks that drive measurable business outcomes while unlocking financial inclusion for millions of customers across Africa.
