Description

Our client in the FMCG industry is looking to appoint a Product Application Technologist to join their team, based in Maitland, Cape Town.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (e.g., Food Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology)
    BTech candidates must have poultry industry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Willing and able to travel to client sites as required (petrol to be reimbursed).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Product Application Technologist, specifically in poultry.
  • Hands-on experience working with poultry brines, coating systems, and injection equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test brine and coating systems for poultry applications.
  • Conduct product trials at customer sites, including set-up and operation of injectors and other equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support and recommend process or formulation improvements.
  • Participate in NPD projects, offering technical input from concept through to implementation.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for both internal use and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records, lab notes, and formulation data.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Liaise with suppliers, universities, and external labs as required.
  • Conduct monthly customer visits and attend factory trials.
