Job Description
This role is accountable for the development and implementation of parts of the procurement strategy, and the execution of tactical business plans at an operational level, through other managers and their teams, over periods of 3 months to 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Procurement: Manage a portfolio of procurement programs while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Contract Life-Cycle Management (CLM): Manage and support the procurement contracts system and associated CLM tasks. Plan, negotiate and manage the implementation of operational level agreements between procurement and business areas for all contract types and scenarios.
- Produce the required management information to support decision-making within procurement as well as business stakeholders. Provide the supplier relationship management team with the required supplier insights and market intelligence to enable the team to develop fit-for-purpose supplier strategies.
- Provide first line support on all procurement-related systems and manage the delivery of system enhancements and upgrades in partnership with IT.
- Ensure procurement SOP’s, minimum standards are updated, are aligned to procurement policy and reflect best practices. Enact change management as required for procurement and supported business areas.
- Provide the required coordination and intervention to ensure that all source-to-pay functions within procurement are effectively and efficiently operating to support business area.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate action plans and motivate people to achieve business goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identify stakeholders, understand their needs, and respond to support business decisions.
- Budgeting: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Performance Management: Set objectives, manage performance, and take corrective action where required.
- Organizational Capability Building: Identify development needs and implement capability-building actions, including coaching and training.
The Recruitment Process
- TA Interview: This will be a discussion with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow us the opportunity to get to know you more and ensure OMI can meet your career aspirations.
- Panel Interview: This will be with 2 members of the Senior Leadership of the Hiring Team and 1 member of the HC Leadership Team.
- Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with Vetting through an external service provider & Internal Verification.
- Final Feedback.

Bachelor Commerce: Supply Chain Management (Required), NQF Level 9 – Masters.
